Overview of the role:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer in the Cloud Centre of Excellence team, part of the Flutter UK&I Infrastructure Common Services tribe, your role is crucial for maintaining and evolving the organization's technology infrastructure to enhance our consumers' enablement.

The UK&I Platform Enablement super tribe provides core services to our product and technology teams to enable them to have delivery and execution independence.

Responsibilities include platform design, development and maintenance, system monitoring and optimization, capacity planning, infrastructure automation, security and compliance, incident management and support, mentoring team members, and collaboration with areas outside of the team. The team functions as a 24/7 operational support unit with on-call availability.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do:

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates Excellent Knowledge of Infrastructure & Platforms Systems: Applies comprehensive understanding of group engineering systems management as key responsibility involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the Flutter UKI platform infrastructure. This includes both the development of new platforms and the enhancement of existing ones to meet evolving business needs.

• Driving Improvements: Proactively drive and contribute to opportunities to improve processes, documentation, adopt new technologies, and enhance the reliability, performance, and security of the platform, as well as contribute to the cloud cost management plans

• Automation Contributor: Actively seeks and spearheads opportunities to implement automation solutions and practices to reduce reliance on manual processes, and promotes self service.

• Ownership: Exhibit ownership of squad deliverables, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and accountability. Lead and take charge of a work stream or incident, including the creation and maintenance of all relevant documentation.

• Collaboration: Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with other teams, such as development, operations, architecture & infosec. You'll work closely with these teams on initiatives, embracing and providing feedback with a positive attitude.

• Role Modelling: Serve as a role model both behaviourally and in terms of capabilities, inspiring Engineers through their actions.

• Engineering: Designs and builds systems that are re-usable, scalable in design, highly available and resilient in operation. Everything through Infrastructure as Code and security is always a day 0 consideration.

What you’ll bring:

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

• Working experience with AWS Organisations, ControlTower, Config, Security Hub

• Expert understanding of AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and ECS/EKS

• Experience supporting AWS cloud infrastructure through tooling and automation

• Strong knowledge of Platform Engineering Principals

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild and CodeDeploy

• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work autonomously

• Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, identification and resolution of issues in complex environments

• Great communication skills, able to interact effectively with cross-functional teams

• Passion for building great consumer products and improving user experience

• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and fast-paced environments
