Job Summary
As a Senior Business Intelligence Lead at Zayo, you will play a pivotal role in delivering advanced business intelligence solutions and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will collaborate closely with various departments to understand their data needs and translate these into actionable insights. You will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data models, dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that provide clear visibility into business performance. Your role will involve identifying trends, opportunities, and risks through comprehensive data analysis, enabling se nior management to make informed decisions.
You will also be responsible for ensuring data integrity and consistency across all reporting platforms. This includes establishing and maintaining data governance policies, standards, and best practices. You will lead initiatives to improve data quality, streamline reporting processes, and enhance the overall eff ectiveness of our BI systems.
You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be required to present complex data findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
In addition, you will stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in business intelligence and analytics, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to maintain our competitive edge.
Your strategic vision and analytical expertise will be instrumental in driving business growth, efficiency, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement: Working with the SLT & Business leads to understand their data needs and deliver impactful insights.
- Data Analysis: Influence strategic and tactic decisions based on trend analysis.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data models, dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using [Power BI and Tableau].
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting platforms by working with the Data team.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
- Requirements capture - Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Responsible to maintain business reports covering all stages of the customer experience framework. i.e. all reports relating to opportunities, quotations, orders, delivery, revenues & costs and post sales.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement - Keep up-to-date with the latest BI technologies and best practices.
- Deliver automated solutions, reduce design complexity, maximize reuse, reduce time to response, and simplify the end-user experience.
- Performance - Tune and optimize BI solutions for better performance.
- User experience - enable users to get the maximum value from the reports by providing training or demos for complex BI reports
- Support & maintenance - ensure that stakeholder support issues are responded to quickly
- Technical support - mentor and guide junior BI engineers
- Communications - Encourages a collaborative approach to problem solving. Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Interpreting and acting upon multiple reporting and analytical requests to ensure that data sets, data ingestion, curation and any dependent system development is coordinated
- Creating documentation to describe the BI timelines and architectural design documents to help aid understanding of data source and types in use across the BI reports
- Manage stakeholder expectations and agree priorities and timelines in consultation with stakeholders, specifically the Finance Director and IT Director / Lead Consultant.
- Performing proof of concepts for new process, UX or technology improvements within the BI space
- Maintenance of existing BI reports
- Creation of new reports and dashboards
- Refactoring of existing reports to improve re-use of dataflows / datasets and that reports are consistent and cohesive
- Provide advise on how new company initiatives and projects can be supported by existing BI reports and advise whether enhancements are required to provide additional enhancements to help manage and monitor project related KPIs
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Considerable, relevant work experience, ideally within the Telecommunications sector.
- Expert level experience with Power BI and Tableau.
- Expert knowledge of data translation, modelling and presentation concepts and best practice
- Strong SQL & Excel skills and experience
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
