UI Intern

The PROS Summer Internship Program is a 3-month paid internship designed to provide real-world work experience. This opportunity isn’t just about supporting design and research; it’s a platform for innovation, offering hands-on experience with a seasoned, high-performance research and design team, designing workflows, prototypes, user interfaces, and more. Your contributions will have a tangible impact, as you assist in user research, craft surveys, analyze data, and integrate feedback—all while growing your skills in a collaborative, forward-thinking team eager to mentor and elevate emerging talent. In addition, interns will be provided ample learning opportunities, interaction with business leaders and engaging intern events.

Responsibilities 

We’ll adjust this internship’s responsibilities according to your skills, but may include the following: 

Design: 

• Assist in design sessions with product managers, developers, and other team members

• Create high-fidelity UI designs, prototypes, and workflows based on business requirements and user research

• Apply principles of typography, layout, color theory, and branding to UI designs

• Help evolve and contribute to the PROS design system by working with the design team

• Collaborate with UX designers, researchers, and writers to create seamless user experiences

• Write microcopy and instructional text that enhances UI clarity and usability

Research:

• Participate in user research activities, such as usability testing and feedback analysis

• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, analytics, and business goals

General: 

• Present and explain design decisions to team members and stakeholders

• Seek mentorship, coaching, and feedback from senior designers and team members

• Support the team with design documentation, presentations, and project tracking

• Handle other reasonable and necessary responsibilities as assigned

Note: This position is focused on UI design and is not oriented towards engineering, marketing, graphic, or print design.

Qualifications:  

Must-Haves 

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Web Design, or a related field

• Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, iconography, and color theory

• Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and an understanding of design patterns and usability best practices

• Proficiency in Figma (or a similar digital design tool)

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and apply feedback effectively

Nice-to-Haves 

• Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

• Familiarity with design systems and component-based UI design

• Experience with prototyping tools such as Axure, Adobe XD, or Framer

• Understanding of motion design and micro-interactions

• Prior internship or project experience in software UI design
