General Accounting Manager, IAS - "life-science leader"

Our  Integrated Accounting Services (IAS) team in Sofia, Bulgaria is continually developing and we want to appoint a General Accounting Manager.

Main tasks:

• Management of a regional accounting team based in LabCorp’s EU Center responsible for recruitment, training, development, employee engagement, objective setting and completion of midyear and annual reviews

• Lead, support, coach, develop an enaged team of accountants, ensuring the key deliverables are completed on time with high quality

• Monitor and act upon the respective KPIs 

• Prepare and review accounting entries in accordance with relevant accounting standards and policies

• Review month-end closing activities and monthly financial reports, investigating significant variances in financial statement analyses

• Review monthly cash flow forecasts and balance sheet reconciliations

• Assist with the completion of all external, internal and special audits

• Maintain strong internal relationships with Tax, Treasury, IAS and Payroll; as well as external relationships with local service providers, advisors and auditors

• Make recommendations for improvements in processes and/or quality of information reported and assists with implementation of action plans

• Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as required

Education / Qualifications:

• Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent number of years of experience

• Preferred – CPA and advanced accounting degree

Experience:

• 5+ years accounting, experience in Shared Service Centers or multinational companies

• 2+ years of supervisory experience

• Adhere to a pro-active approach, with the ability to problem solve, and interact professionally with internal and external clients in order to meet everyone’s needs in an effective and timely manner

• Demonstrate ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize

• Proficient in Excel and Word

• Previous experience with ERP system (PeopleSoft preferred)

• Problem solving skills

• Proven track for improvements in processes or control environment

• Strong stakeholder management skills

• Experience in an international, multicurrency environment, preferably US corporate

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles and internal control environments

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experience working with large amounts of data
