The Team
As an Account Manager within the Primary Team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing clients in the Asia-Pacific region, with a specific focus on Japanese-speaking accounts. Your primary objectives will be to ensure strong client retention and identify opportunities for account growth through proactive engagement and greenfield sales. You will play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by driving product adoption and user satisfaction through regular touchpoints, training, and problem resolution.

The Impact
You will join Team Primary, a dynamic, global sales team focused on retaining and expanding S&P Global Market Intelligence’s long-tail customer base. The team operates at scale, using automation, digital tools, and a cost-effective engagement model. With over 120 diverse, tech-savvy Account Managers worldwide, we pride ourselves on innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Relationship Management

  • Proactively engage with assigned accounts to ensure client satisfaction and long-term retention
  • Conduct regular service reviews to discuss current usage and identify evolving needs
  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned clients, coordinating with internal teams to resolve any issues swiftly and effectively
  • Respond to incoming inquiries via phone and email, maintaining timely and professional communication

2. Revenue Growth & Sales Development

  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities within your existing book through greenfield sales
  • Communicate the value of our solutions and support pricing conversations confidently
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Prospecting, Marketing, and Customer Success) to drive upsell opportunities and book expansion

3. Product Adoption & User Enablement

  • Drive product adoption by onboarding new users and ensuring full utilization of available tools
  • Deliver engaging training sessions through virtual or in-person channels
  • Reach out to all new contracts and users to facilitate a smooth onboarding experience

4. Operational Excellence & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and activities using CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Collaborate with team leads and managers to ensure timely contract renewals and proper documentation of pipeline activities
  • Stay current on product developments, industry trends, and client needs through internal trainings and webinars

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in spoken and written Japanese
  • 1–3 years of experience in client-facing roles such as Account Management, Sales, or Product Support
  • Strong interest in solving client challenges through data and technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Salesforce
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in delivering product demos
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI, is a plus
