About The Role: Sales Specialist Data & Research 

The Team: The Data & Research team represents several of our flagship products in the S&P Capital IQ/Pro Desktop and Xpressfeed/API/Marketplace channel solutions. Together, they represent over $1.3B in annual revenue and are seeing significant growth based on continued expansion of content, delivery, and capabilities. 

Responsibilities and Impact:

As a Data & Research (D&R) Whitespace Sales Specialist for Financial Institutions, you are responsible for selling a Suite of products distributed via desktop, bulk delivery or API via data distribution channels to prospective clients. 

Client segment focus will be across Financial Institutions. Through proactive prospection, you are to diagnose client requirements, define pricing frameworks and look to combine various solutions across the wider organization as you engage with other Sales Specialists to both identify further opportunities and maximize growth across your territory, leveraging alignment on incentives and goals to deliver an exceptional client experience. You will be integral in expanding our client base through the signing of new accounts. 

You will also have access to a wide range of resources to support you and help you to perform against your objectives. These include Sales Associates, a Prospecting team, Product Managers, Product Specialists, Application Specialists, and Sales Education. 

  • Overall responsibility of New Business Sales and acquiring new logos 

  • Build a territory plan and organized process around working with the assigned Sales Associate and Prospecting team to stay in front of all prospects in the given territory 

  • Stay current with industry news to develop marketing/campaigning initiatives to attract prospects 

  • Understand Financial Institutions client workflows and how our various products pertain to them 

  • Engage and collaborate with other business units to ensure an enhanced client experience through team selling 

  • Work closely with your business development/Product Specialist partners to identify new opportunities, new use cases within the designated territory 

  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing structures 

  • Uncover new cross-divisional synergies opportunities and contribute to product innovation 

  • Maintain focused approach to daily sales activity pipelines and systems-based workflow (i.e. Salesforce.com) 

This role represents a fantastic opportunity to execute and deliver revenue across our flagship products, work closely with our Sales Specialist partners across other business units to provide forward thinking solutions and provide the chosen individual with great exposure as they look to grow their career in this company. 

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,817 to $115,750. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We Are Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications: 

  • 1-3+ Years of experience as an Individual Contributor (Financial Services Industry roles Preferred) 

  • Independent, self-starter capable of working without close supervision or daily guidance 

  • Strong business acumen with relevant industry experience and a consistent record in consultative sales 

  •  Team player with an ability to collaborate across functional and geographic boundaries 

  •  Experience selling complex data and/or technology solutions to financial institutions 

  • Confidence in approaching new markets, navigating, and owning a territory and dealing with C-Level executives 

  • Strong communication, organization, presentation, and negotiation skills
