Job Description :

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment  – with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post is seeking a driven and fearless Sr. Reporter (M-F) to join our dynamic News Features team — the group behind some of our most talked-about stories, bold investigations, and original reporting. This team doesn’t just follow the news — we drive it, offering readers exclusive scoops and sharp takes on the unexpected angles of front-page issues.

To thrive in this role, you should have a proven track record of producing in-depth, multi-source stories that move the cultural needle. We're looking for a reporter bursting with ambitious ideas that will make other publications jealous — someone who’s endlessly curious, fast on their feet, and eager to chase the next great story.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce sparkling, thoroughly reported, and accurate copy on deadline — from same-day turnarounds to longer-lead investigative features
Pitch fresh, original ideas multiple times a week — staying ahead of the curve and also reacting creatively to the news cycle

  • Report across a range of topics including national and local breaking news, true crime, society scandals, Hollywood and celebrity, politics, tech, education, and “only in New York” stories

  • Conduct deep research and interviews with a variety of sources

  • Maintain the highest journalistic standards in accuracy, fairness, and clarity

  • Some travel may be required

Requirements:

  • At least seven years of experience writing for publication, with a strong focus on long-form investigative journalism

  • A proven ability to develop, report, and write original enterprise stories—not just reactive pieces—with a sharp sense of what makes a compelling and newsworthy feature

  • Established sources and reporting contacts across a range of industries or beats; must come into the role with a network that enables enterprise-level storytelling

  • A demonstrated track record of investigative reporting, including experience with public records, data, and deep-source development

  • Strong storytelling instincts paired with clean, compelling, and rigorous writing; clips should show narrative skill, precision, and a distinct voice

  • Genuine intellectual curiosity across a wide range of topics—from true crime, Hollywood, and tech to politics, education, and culture—with a nose for what makes a buzzy or high-impact story

  • Persistent reporting style, with the charm and hustle to land interviews, build trust with reluctant sources, and dig deep where others don’t

  • Ability to self-generate ideas and chase stories that others might overlook, including the unusual, the complex, and the "only in New York"

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with editors and other teams

  • Willingness to travel as needed, sometimes on short notice, to pursue story leads or conduct in-person reporting

  • Commitment to ethical journalism standards, and an understanding of legal considerations in investigative reporting

Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).

At The New York Post we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.  As a result, our ranges reflect our  good faith estimate to pay fairly as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

In addition to compensation, the company provides eligible employees a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package, with a variety of physical health, retirement and savings, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and other benefits, including “elective” benefits employees may select to best fit the needs and personal situations of our diverse workforce.

As an equal opportunity employer, the New York Post does not discriminate in hiring or the terms and conditions of employment because of an individual’s race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. The New York Post will consider the provision of reasonable accommodations to known physical or mental disabilities of otherwise qualified applicants to enable them to participate in our application process and to effectively perform the essential functions of the job, unless doing so would impose an undue financial or operational hardship.
