Job Description
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to join the Fastmarkets Technology Team to help continue grow our technology and build a highly skilled team that will enable us to accelerate our product delivery and scale our business. The Technology team at Fastmarkets develop, enhance and support our flagship digital platform, serving global customers with critical data, news and analytics in the commodities markets we serve. We make this data and intelligence easily accessible though multiple channels including web, desktop, API, Excel and mobile iOS and Android applications, enabling customers to integrate our digital offering into their business workflows.
The Front-end Engineer is a full-time position working within a Scrum team reporting to the Engineering Manager. In this technical role, the Engineer will be working as part of a global a team of other Software Engineers, Business Analysts and Product Managers to successfully develop and deliver new features. This includes contributing to major projects that make a difference to Fastmarkets customers both in our existing markets such as metals, forest products and agricultural commodity sectors.
Working closely alongside the Digital Product team, the Engineer will be principally working within an expert group such as Customer Experience, Platform Services, News, Prices, Market Data and Analytics and from there develop knowledge across all dimensions of the Fastmarkets platform, enabling them to be equipped with both business and technical expertise to tackle Fastmarkets’ most exciting business challenges.
For our front-end applications, our technical stack principally Angular and TypeScript. On the back-end, our technical stack is .NET and cloud infrastructure is Azure and we seek to use the latest and greatest relevant technologies in our work.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Software Design and Development
Implementation of technical solutions for new features and product enhancements
Work with User Experience experts and Web Designers to provide well designed customer focused solutions.
Adhere to sound software engineering design principles; design patterns, SOLID code etc.
Ensuring solutions are developed to be scalable, flexible, resilient and secure
Support the ongoing maintenance of existing Fastmarkets software
Quality Management
Ensure code is well structured, clean, readable, testable, and efficiently written
Ensure code is reviewed, engineering standards are maintained and strive to continually drive standards up
Ensure appropriate automated and manual tests for new features are designed and implemented
Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained
Leadership and Collaboration
Participating in and contributing to team meetings and stand ups, bring in new ideas
Working collaboratively with other engineers, product developers and business analysts
Helping to resolve support issues where appropriate

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
Core Skills & Experience
- Angular 2+ (preferably Angular 16) – At least 2 years of hands-on experience building scalable applications.
- TypeScript – Strong understanding of TypeScript for maintainable and scalable code.
- RxJS – Proficiency in reactive programming with Observables, Subjects, and Operators.
- Testing & Debugging – Experience with Jasmine, Karma, Jest, or other front-end testing frameworks.
- Writing Quality Code – Best practices in clean code, modular architecture, and maintainability.
Bonus Skills (Advantageous)
- NgRx – State management experience using NgRx store, effects, and selectors.
- Nx – Experience with Nx monorepos for managing Angular applications efficiently.
- E2E Testing with Playwright – Hands-on experience writing and maintaining end-to-end tests.
