Location Information (Remote):
This remote role supports our Lab Automation group, an ISO 9001 certified organization, in the European region, working closely with the Integration Supervisor based in our Canada office. Our team designs, manufactures, and installs robotic solutions globally, accelerating drug discovery and synthetic biology research for major pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. How you will make an impact:
As an Field Engineer – Laboratory Automation & Integration, you play an important role in the implementation of custom automated laboratory projects. This will be achieved through applying Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Momentum™ Automation Workflow software and will include testing & problem solving of automated robotic systems integrated with specialized instrumentation to defined specifications. Understanding the customer’s lab workflows will enable you to optimize processes for efficiency and consistent high-quality results.
What you will contribute:
Team Collaboration
Collaborate with multi-functional teams—including customers, PMs, Integrators, Designers, and Developers—to plan and deliver ETO solutions.
Capture and document customer workflow requirements.
Work with customer IT to integrate our systems into their infrastructure.
Provide feedback to Operations and R&D for continuous improvement.
Help create standard documentation for configuring PCs/firewalls with third-party lab instruments.
Technical Responsibilities
Build automated workflows and present simulations using our scheduling software.
Install and configure system software and hardware.
Map instrument data to client LIMS requirements.
Design system/network architecture and provide installation diagrams.
Maintain standard PC images and validate new hardware.
Program and optimize robot/mover workflows.
Test systems to ensure SAT approval.
Provide basic user training and system handover.
Ensure setups follow SOPs and company standards.
How will you get there?
Experience:
3 years' minimum automation integration experience, or related field
2 years in a role directly collaborating with customers in a professional environment
Experience with programming languages (C++, Python)
Experience integrating or servicing laboratory instruments considered an asset
Knowledge & Skills:
High proficiency in electromechanical problem-solving techniques
Solid understanding of software and networking
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organization, planning and time leadership skills
Professional presence
Proficient English speaking and writing skills
Other Requirements:
Valid Passport
Ability to travel 75% of the time without restrictions
