Director, Data Engineering is responsible for Data Platform Engineering, Data Governance solutions and technical operations for data and analytics technology supporting DX. This leadership position sits within the DX Data organization and reporting into the Vice President, Data. What You Will Do: Engineering and operations for business-critical data platforms Developing, implementing and integrating software and automation to support data governance and compliance policies, as defined by legal/privacy teams, including DSAR automation, record retention, access control and quality monitoring and observability. Responsible for ownership of the Disney Experiences data catalog Engineering and sustainment of data consumption, analytics, visualization and BI tools Operations and support of data pipelines and products, including incident, problem and change management and oversight of a large managed services team Visionary thinking and industry expertise to continually evolve the DX data platform, governance and consumption strategy What You Need: 12+ years related work experience Advanced knowledge of Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, Advanced Analytics, and Data Science implementations Experience across Data Warehouse platforms such as Snowflake and BigQuery, with expert level knowledge in the Snowflake Platform Expertise with Data Lakehouse architectures and formats/standards, such as Parquet and Iceberg Experience designing automated, highly available ETL/ELT big data pipelines at scale Experience with data transformation and orchestration tools as well as dbt and AirFlow Knowledge of data quality practices and tooling such as Datadog and Anomalo Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations Experience with Enterprise Data Governance, BI (Business Intelligence) consumption tools Excellent verbal and written communication, compelling storytelling and presentation skills. A team player with vision, passion, discipline, and integrity Demonstrated inclusive and collaborative leadership that embraces diverse thought. Ability to develop geographically and otherwise diverse highly technical teams. Proven ability to successfully operate in a highly matrix organization where partnership and influence are key drivers of success Ability to work rapidly and efficiently in a fast paced and changing environment Required Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related equivalent experience. Preferred Education: Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related equivalent experience. #DISNEYTECH The hiring range for this position in CA is $202,900.00 to $272,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
