We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer with a creative edge, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of QA software testing concepts.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a QA Automation Engineer on our team, you will participate in design, planning, execution, monitoring, and improving testing procedures. The successful candidate will author test plans and create automation scripts that execute tests across various facets of the system to ensure our applications are of the highest quality. Lightspeed’s products span appliances, mobile apps, networking, and cloud-based SaaS/web applications.

NOTE:  

  • This is a hybrid position and several days each week will be required onsite at our Austin, Texas headquarters.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automated test scripts using Selenium, Cucumber, and Java for functional, smoke, and regression testing.
  • Architect and enhance test automation frameworks to improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
  • Design and implement end-to-end testing strategies, ensuring robust validation of UI, API, and system components.
  • Develop and maintain the CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions for seamless test execution and integrations.
  • Conduct REST API testing with Rest-Assured and performance testing with JMeter.
  • Collaborate with software developers and QA teams to analyze defects, troubleshoot issues, and drive quality improvements.
  • Execute manual and exploratory testing as needed, ensuring comprehensive software validation.
  • Work with version control systems (e.g., GitHub) for test script development and execution.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and conduct testing across various platforms (MacOS, iOS, Windows, Chrome Extensions).
  • Monitor and analyze test results to improve automation coverage and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU

  • Excellent oral, written, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working on innovative commercial software products.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about building a world-class product.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts across teams.
  • Hands-on experience managing CI/CD with Jenkins and Selenium Grid.
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, including end-to-end test scenarios.
  • Hands-on experience writing tests with Selenium using Java, Cucumber, and Rest-Assured.
  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Passion for continuous process and technology improvement.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with Bruno, Postman, K6, and GraphQL.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, Redis, Node.js, Ruby, and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure testing.
  • Experience working with JIRA, Zephyr, or similar bug-tracking systems.
  • Experience testing Chrome Extensions, MacOS, iOS, and Windows applications.
  • Knowledge of Proxy services with SSL decryption is a plus.

Your Experience & Education

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience working on commercial software development projects.
