Job Summary/Scope:
Leads the assessment of prospect or member technical requirements and creates proposals outlining network architecture design solutions. Works with account team, client and technical teams to identify engagement
scope for professional services to implement design. Lead and oversees multiple initiatives and prospect/member engagements to ensure that
scopes, budgets, revenue targets and project deadlines are planned and met. Collaborate with client, account team and technical team in developing new managed services engagements resulting from professional service implementations. Collaborates with other leaders to prioritize projects, develop, and implement plans, and manage resources and priorities for the organization.
Identify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors. Work with the Leadership Team to identify risks and opportunities across multiple professional services engagements. Responsible for presenting network design proposals to members including formal presentations
to large audiences. Serve as Technical Subject Matter Expert and advocate for professional services at outreach events such as client meetings, technical workshops, and other community events.
Responsibilities:
Develop enterprise network architecture design principals, standards and multi-year planning. Work with vendors, client, network engineers and operations to ensure design plans meet client needs and are executed to the DXC standards.
- In partnership with key stakeholders, develops enterprise network architecture design principles, standards, and multi-year refresh plans and budgetary requirements for Wide Area, Border, Core, Edge, Data Center, and Wireless networks.
- Research current and emerging network infrastructure technologies.
- Provide engineering and support services as needed for Canadian network operation. This includes serving as a technical lead for projects associated with optical and packet network technologies.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to members of the engineering team.
- Interact and collaborate with vendors and contractors for product/platform evaluation, technical implementation and planning, and procuring network products and services.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operational procedures and established standards.
Major Deliverables:
- Developing network and related architectures and solutions based on requirements from offering, engineering, and operations, as well as key customers
- Working across the organization to provide technical leadership for the network infrastructure
- Assessing new technologies and best practices for adoption
- Driving standardization and automation into all aspects of the network platform
- Engaging with internal and external customers for briefings, issue escalation, and complex solution development
- Enabling the extended team’s vitality through training, mentoring, and skills transfer
- Documenting network capabilities as appropriate for both internal and external consumption
Job Skills Required:
- 8+ years of relevant job experience including analyzing, configuring, troubleshooting, designing complex enterprise networks
- 8+ years Complex routing, switching, and ISP environments
- Arista switches and Cisco Routers (ISRs and ASRs)
- Must have Firewall experience (Checkpoint preferred, Cisco ASA/Meraki is desirable)
- QoS understanding and configuration (routers and switches)
- Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- WAN architectures (“legacy” ex: MPLS and “trending” ex: SD-WAN & VPN methods)
- Thorough understanding of most enterprise IPv4 protocols and emerging IPv6 deployments
- Strong familiarity with cloud networking (AWS: VPC, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, ELB/ALB, Route 53, Azure)
- Familiarly with network configuration, automation tooling, telemetry, authentication technologies.
- Familiarity with Network Troubleshooting Tool Suites (NNMI, NetBrain, Science Logic)
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
- Industry certifications – primarily via our Strategic Partners (CheckPoint, Arista, Cisco)
