Payroll specialist

About the Job

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services while ensuring full compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will support the end-to-end payroll process, assist in audits, respond to employee inquiries, and contribute to ongoing process improvements and risk mitigation efforts. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure payroll excellence.

Main Responsibilities

Payroll Operations

• Manage all payroll-related tasks to ensure timely and accurate salary payments
• Maintain time reports and prepare required payroll inputs and documentation
• Verify payroll output files and assist with salary review processes
• Support internal and external payroll audits
• Execute internal controls related to payroll operations
• Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries and escalations
• Track and report on payroll performance issues and risks

Process & System Support

• Maintain and update systems/tools per standard procedures
• Conduct data entry, verification, and correction as required
• Audit own work and ensure data accuracy
• Prepare reports for cross-departmental stakeholders and leadership
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects

Communication & Documentation

• Produce professional, client-standard correspondence
• Respond to information requests and compile research results as needed
• Document new learnings or process changes in the approved format

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

• Collaborate effectively with immediate team members
• Train and support new colleagues
• Participate in periodic working time calculations and monitoring exercises
• Complete trackers and tools for activity reporting

Main requirements

• Solid knowledge of payroll processes and compliance
• Strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in data handling and auditing
• Ability to manage tasks independently while adhering to established procedures.
• A proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation
• Confidence in collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders
• A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and provide support
• Professional communication skills and a commitment to handling confidential information with integrity
