Responsibilities

Technical Staff, Thermal Engineering Architect

Thermal Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant thermal design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of thermal products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

As AI growth is accelerating, Dell Technologies is developing ground-breaking technologies and customer solutions to lead the industry. These technologies are rapidly changing and we’re developing best-in class AI, Cloud, High Performance Computing (HPC), Edge computing devices and enterprise networking, server and storage products.

As a Technical Staff, Thermal Engineering Architect, you will develop industry leading thermal engineered solutions for IT data center rack infrastructure solutions. In collaboration with Dell’s Chief Technical Innovation Office (CTIO) within our Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), you will drive innovation in the liquid-to-air cooling discipline to address increased demand for compute-intensive workloads as ever increasing pressures on density and space constraints persist.

Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as a Technical Staff, Thermal Engineering Architect on our IT Rack Infrastructure Thermal Engineering Team in Austin, Texas or Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

What you’ll achieve
As a Technical Staff, Thermal Engineering Architect, you will be responsible for architecting new liquid-for-air cooling devices for Rack-Level Data Center AI solutions. You will work with our global thermal, electrical and mechanical engineering community on cutting edge AI solutions.

You will:

  • Design of rack-level heat exchange and coolant distribution
  • Design coolant distribution solutions within the loop for parallel flow solutions and support cooling network sizing
  • Develop concepts for new innovative air and liquid cooling concepts and establish feasibility
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering for design tradeoffs in rack-level air and liquid cooling solutions and coach/mentor less experienced peers to allow scale and efficiency across the team
  • Ensure newly developed thermal solutions are manufacturable, interoperable, reliable and scalable for present and future roadmap
