Job Posting Title: Category Strategy Manager Req ID: 10125616 Job Description: The Category Strategy Manager supports the Category Strategy Director and Category Strategy Vice President in developing category and client strategies driving ad sales revenue in a given advertising vertical. As a strategic entity in the Disney Advertising organization, the Category Strategy team works to ensure Disney Advertising is positioned to meet the Company’s long-term goals and our clients’ business needs. Job Summary: The Category Strategy Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams including – Research, Client/Marketing Solutions, Data Enablement, Sales and Sales Communications to frame category narratives and go to market presentations for the category and category clients. She/He/They will work with the Category Strategy Director to develop insights supporting strategies to broaden the value proposition of Disney Advertising in the marketplace with a focus on data-driven solutions, automation, and audience-based buying. She/He/They will anticipate and create selling stories for category-relevant properties and platforms within the Disney Advertising portfolio and key business segment priorities. She/He/They will be responsible for understanding a category from both a business perspective and a media perspective including overall business trends, consumer media trends, industry measurement solutions and competitive landscape, specifically competitive media spending analysis Responsibilities: Be responsible for understanding consumer media trends, industry measurement solutions and competitive landscape, specifically competitive media spending. Mine syndicated data sources (e.g. MRI, Nielsen, YouGov, Ad Intel, SMI, EDO) for insights for client and category presentations Leverage the syndicated data to develop sales narratives and positioning material for key sales priorities, drawing on essential skills in “storytelling” Identify and articulate consumer trends bearing media revenue impact to best position Disney’s portfolio of assets Act as a liaison between research, category strategy and sales to create measurement strategies against client KPIs Independently oversee campaign effectiveness and performance recaps with select vendors Work with the Data Enablement team to initiate recommendations on first-party and third-party audience segments for clients and agency partners Curate category knowledge to educate Sales and sales support teams on salient information Actively contribute to creating an inclusive environment Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of experience in advertising, media and/or marketing and in the given category preferred (Tech & Telco and Travel & Leisure) Media experience at an agency or client-side or experience with a sales development/strategy role at a media company Multi-platform media planning, buying, strategy and measurement with a strong background in addressable and data-driven solutions Experience with working with R/F tools such as Nielsen Media Impact Functional experience working in media tools such as Nielsen NPower, Comscore, social listening among others Working knowledge of cross platform effectiveness and attribution vendors to measure brand lift, sales lift, app downloads, engagement and attention, etc. Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to navigate without constant direction Strong multitasking capabilities and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment of tight deadlines and constant change Team-oriented, with experience working across a matrixed organization Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Strong presentation skills, capable of presenting to internal and/or external partners Passion for The Walt Disney Company, its content, and the advertising landscape Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience The hiring range for this position in New York is $119,200.00 to $159,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
