The Role: Business Development, North America

The Team: Part of the Data, Valuations and Risk Analytics division, the Pricing & Reference Data team provide services on a broad spectrum of fixed income products including Credit Default Swaps, Syndicated Bank Loans and Bonds (Corporate & Sovereign, US Municipal and Securitized Products) to the largest asset managers, investment banks, fund administrators, auditing firms, and regulators. The global team is widely regarded as the market leader for these services and maintain extremely strong relationships across the market.

The Impact: Business Development is the commercial arm of product. The team is the key between our clients/market needs and our product teams; in this role we partner with clients to directly influence the direction that our services take, plan for future growth, and execute on new ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the team’s market facing interactions with key constituents to drive product awareness and grow revenue opportunities across Fixed Income
  • Develop and execute business plans and sales campaigns to increase market share
  • Perform client / prospect outreach in several ways including individual client meetings, attending seminars and conferences, participating on speaking panels, hosting roundtables and webinars
  • Actively work with clients on build out of new products and services as design partners
  • Collaborate with business development and sales on product commercialization and fees as well as licensing structures
  • Engage in thought leadership via various channels including industry publications, blog posts
  • Perform competitor analysis - develop and execute strategies to optimally position the firm
  • Active participation in sales conferences, special events, sales collateral production, client entertainment, and association memberships. It is expected that the candidate will help drive these activities for the product line to maximize sales revenue and client retention

What We’re Looking For:

  • Key requirement of managing relationships towards the main objective of increasing revenue streams year-on-year in line with the account plan
  • Commercial awareness
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal required for complex commercial and business discussions
  • Self-driven, energetic, and proactive individual with an ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in an organized and methodical manner
  • Team player able to inspire those around him/her, build internal relationships as well as external ones. Important to have the confidence of all stakeholders including product managers and salespeople.
  • 5+ years of experience in fixed income markets
  • Bachelor’s Degree: business management / finance preferred

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $135,000- 160,000 USD Annual. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
