About the Role: Mexico Local Controller

The Team:

Join the LATAM & Canada Corporate Controller’s group, where you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our Mexican entities, including financial reporting, tax compliance, book closing, and adherence to local regulatory requirements.

The Impact:

This role is vital in ensuring the integrity, completeness, and appropriateness of the company's external financial statements, in line with applicable tax regulations and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting practices and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (Mexican and US GAAP). 

  • Maintain compliance with applicable tax and legal frameworks. 

  • Manage tax compliance and coordinate with internal and external teams regarding income tax, indirect taxes, and withholding taxes. 

  • Supervise audits conducted by tax authorities. 

  • Collaborate with corporate divisions to ensure compliance in areas such as transfer pricing, treasury, human resources, and legal matters. 

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. 

  • Liaise with external auditors during the review and audit of financial statements and disclosures for Mexican entities. 

  • Act as the legal representative for Mexican entities in dealings with government entities. 

  • Assess and enhance financial reporting controls. 

  • Provide operational support for corporate initiatives and the Corporate Controller’s function.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the financial services sector or related companies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA required; Master’s degree or additional certifications (e.g., CMA, CFA) preferred.

  • Proven experience in managing tax compliance and conducting audits.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Smart View, Oracle, and familiarity with COI.

  • Proven project management experience.

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of tax regulations, accounting standards, and local legal requirements.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various organizational levels.

  • Experience working with global teams; proficiency in English is required.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or additional certifications (e.g., CMA, CFA) preferred.
