The Communications Lead for APAC, S&P Global Market Intelligence, will play a vital role in leading and supporting the development and execution of communications strategies within the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region. This role will also serve as the primary lead for APAC communications for S&P Global Mobility and the communications point of contact for S&P Global in Japan. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Communications for MI, this role will focus on enhancing the visibility and reputation of the Market Intelligence and Mobility divisions by building relationships with key media, securing high-profile media coverage, and supporting senior stakeholders on executive communications, ensuring consistent and strategic messaging. You will work closely with senior leadership and subject matter experts in the region to deliver impactful communications that support divisional and corporate goals. You will also be representing the S&P Global communications teams as a key communications advisor with senior stakeholders in the region.

- Be a self-starter and seek opportunities to elevate our brand, spokespeople, thought leadership and data in the region, proactively creating more value for the business and APAC region.
- Lead the development and execution of external communications strategies, partner closely with senior business line stakeholders and the internal communications team to develop holistic communications planning and execution.
- Serve as lead communications advisor for the region with accountability for how communications campaigns will drive business goals.
- Drive media relations efforts by cultivating strong relationships with top-tier media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers while working closely with public relations agency partners
- Contribute to executive communications through internal and external communications, including broader strategic planning, execution, crisis communications by developing rapid-response strategies and ensuring consistent messaging during challenging situations.
- Support the creation and delivery of key messaging for high-profile media placements, thought leadership content, and press materials.
- Track regional media coverage and report on PR metrics to measure the effectiveness of external communications and ensure alignment with business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of the internal and external communications strategy for S&P Global Market Intelligence and Mobility, ensuring messaging aligns with divisional and corporate objectives.
- Work with senior leaders and subject matter experts to craft compelling narratives and communicate key strategic initiatives, innovations, and thought leadership.
- Lead the creation of external content, including press releases, media advisories, pitch materials, and bylined articles.
- Build and maintain relationships with top-tier global media, industry analysts, and key journalists in APAC – with specific focus on Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Korea with potential expansion to other countries – and to secure media coverage and position Market Intelligence and Mobility as a leader in the data and mobility sectors.
- Effectively communicate the strategic value of local wins and opportunities to stakeholders outside of the region.
- Support the creation of internal content, including executive messages for senior stakeholders; advise on key internal messaging such as town hall agenda and scripts and intranet postings.
- Serve as the key point of contact for the global Communications team in Japan, including handling visiting executives, liaising with local media, and translating to and from local language.
- Ensure all communications align with S&P Global's corporate values, vision, and overall strategic goals.
- Coordinate media interviews, press briefings, and press events to promote divisional initiatives, innovations, and corporate goals.
- Monitor and track media coverage to ensure accurate reporting and effective positioning of S&P Global Market Intelligence and Mobility in the media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in external communications, media relations, or public relations, with a preference for experience in financial services, data analytics, or technology.
- Proactive and efficient self-starter who can operate with autonomy being the sole divisional communications team representative in the region.
- Surface and bring new communications ideas to the table on an ongoing basis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse external audiences.
- Proven experience in building relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers in the region.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to influence and work collaboratively with senior business leaders and subject matter experts to develop and execute communication strategies.
- Must be fluent in English and Japanese with ability to translate complex business content for local media. Other relevant language fluency is a plus.
Critical Experiences:
- Existing relationships with key broadcast and top tier business and financial journalists, editors, producers and influencers.
- Proven ability to support and implement media relations strategies that align with business objectives and drive visibility.
- Experience in drafting and managing external communications materials, including press releases, statements, media relationships, and media pitches.
- Familiarity with the financial markets, data services, or analytics sectors is a plus.
- Ability to handle time-sensitive issues and support media relations during crisis situations.
