Job Description :

The New York Post is one of America’s most iconic and recognizable news brands — delivering bold headlines, unforgettable scoops, and sharp commentary since 1801. With a legacy built on fearless journalism and a distinctly New York attitude, The Post has evolved far beyond its print roots to become a modern media powerhouse.

Today, the New York Post Digital Network is one of the most influential voices in the industry, reaching over 80 million unique users each month across our expansive, ever-growing portfolio. Anchored by NYPost.com, PageSix.com, and Decider.com, our digital brands deliver must-read breaking news, sports, entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle coverage with the same wit, edge, and energy that define The Post. With innovation at our core, we’ve built a true multi-platform ecosystem — spanning web, mobile apps, video, audio, social, print, TV, and commerce. From viral headlines and exclusive stories to original series, podcasts, and live events, we’re engaging audiences where they are — and always on the pulse of what’s next.

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic VP of PR & Brand Communications to oversee and elevate the communications for our iconic brand and its diverse portfolio of entities. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a unique, hands-on opportunity to manage the external narrative of one of the nation’s most influential media organizations, where you will craft compelling stories, shape public perception, and drive strategic communication initiatives that resonate with diverse audiences.

If you are a seasoned communications professional who has a deep enthusiasm for media, storytelling, and brand strategy, we’d love to hear from you. This role offers the unique opportunity to work at the forefront of one of the nation’s leading media companies and help tell the story of the New York Post and its vibrant, multifaceted, and dynamic portfolio of brands.

Responsibilities:

● Work directly with the CEO of the New York Post to manage communications strategy and ensure alignment with the company’s vision and business objectives.
● Own and manage PR agency relationships to craft and execute communications strategies, focusing on brand reputation and public image.
● Partner closely with the SVP of Marketing to drive brand elevation through events, promotions, and brand-building campaigns for the New York Post and its related brands.
● Develop and implement creative, impactful messaging that resonates with a broad audience across various channels (media, digital, events).
● Assess existing communication channels and continuously identify opportunities to improve and refine our messaging strategies.
● Develop and implement long-term communications strategies to enhance brand visibility and strengthen the New York Post’s reputation across all platforms.
● Monitor and analyze media coverage to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media stakeholders, influencers, industry analysts, and thought leaders to drive positive press coverage and brand advocacy.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, editorial, and sales, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with business objectives.
● Oversee content for various communication channels, including press releases, op-eds, speeches, social media posts, and other public-facing materials.
● Manage a communications budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively across PR campaigns, events, and other initiatives.
● Oversee the organization’s thought leadership efforts, positioning the New York Post and its leadership team as experts in key industry topics through media placements and speaking opportunities.
● Track and report on communications metrics, such as media coverage, social media engagement, and public perception, to measure the impact of communication strategies.

Requirements:

● 15 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, ideally with a media background (agency or in-house).
● A proven ability to develop and execute communications strategies that drive brand awareness and elevate public perception.
● Proficiency in media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Google Analytics) and data analysis to measure the effectiveness of communications efforts.
● Experience working with PR agencies and managing vendor relationships to execute large-scale external communications campaigns.
● Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling, high-impact content for a variety of channels.
● Event planning expertise, particularly for high-visibility corporate events, press conferences, and brand activations.
● Experience collaborating with senior leaders to craft cohesive, strategic communications plans.
● Proactive and results-driven, with a track record of taking initiative and delivering measurable outcomes in brand communications.
● Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including executives, media, and external partners.
● A keen interest in media, entertainment, and brand management, with a pulse on trends and innovative communications strategies.

Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This position would be expected to come into the office a minimum of 3 days per week (subject to change).
