About the Role:

They provide insights that enable clients to make optimal short-term decisions under conditions of rapid change and uncertainty as well as informed long-term decisions on capital investments and business strategy. Our consultants use proven consulting techniques to develop solutions to our clients’ most complex challenges.
We now require a Principal Analyst to join our Renewables & Nutrition team in Tokyo, Japan. The Principal Analyst will write chemical market reports for the Chemicals Economic Handbook (CEH) and Specialty Chemicals Update Program (SCUP), and become a recognized specialist in the renewables and nutrition field.
The Principal Analyst will develop independent market analyses and conclusions based on primary and secondary market research and analysis. In addition, he or she will write reports that provide insights into market and industry dynamics.
General job duties include:
- Write in-depth industry reports on a range of chemical products based on interviews with industry participants, review of relevant industry news, examination of analytical and macroeconomic trends, and attendance at industry conferences in the area of specialization.
- Communicate with industry representatives both in person and via telephone and email.
- Communicate with internal and external clients, responding promptly to customer inquiries and providing expert knowledge in area of specialization.
- Support colleagues in the Business Consulting group with expert knowledge in the area of specialization.
- Work effectively as part of a global, multi-disciplinary team (e.g. marketing and sales) and help provide best services to internal and external customers.
Required Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree – preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related subject.
- Preferred: MBA or graduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Experience working within the chemicals industry or chemicals market sector
- A thorough understanding of chemical markets, including:
- chemical value chains
- market and industry dynamics
- A thorough understanding of chemical products in terms of:
- properties
- functions
- production processes
- potential replacements
- environmental and health issues associated with chemical products
Other skills:
- Presentation skills including the ability to make presentations to customers or industry groups.
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Well developed communication skills that allow for the gathering of relevant information from product specialists, marketing and upper management professionals in the chemical industry, associations, and governmental bodies.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment, with an openness to exchange information and methodologies.
