Position Purpose:
The Level 1 Scheduler has the responsibility of establishing, managing, reviewing and maintaining a valid schedule for selected items. This position will have a great impact on internal/external customer service, supply chain, inventory, material and capacity planning.
Essential Functions:
Identifies, negotiates and resolves conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity
Quotes deliveries dates for sales requests within the defined lead time
Develops and maintains communication channels between various departments to maintain the production flow rates
Monitors and maintains inventory levels
Maintains part parameters such as planner codes, lead times and safety stocks
Maintains planning bill structures
Works with both sales and operations globally to provide timely feedback regarding all requested schedule changes
Establishes a working line of communication with all company functions
Communicates when demand cannot be met and recommends alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied
Releases and manages production orders
Reviews, identifies and resolves material shortages with the appropriate supplier(s)
Schedules raw material/purchase components through product release (i.e. "billet to box")
Interacts with customers and sales in SIOP meetings
Participates with Demand Management to drive changes in forecasting
Understands capacity levels in production
Works with commodity groups in sourcing materials
Proactively works line of balance (Supply plan) with both internal and external suppliers
Involved in Continuous Improvement projects
Plans, schedules, and releases Production, Aftermarket (Repairs and Spares), NPI, PPAP and interplant orders
Reviews and responds to all MRP messages on a daily bases as required
Manages external operational work
Prioritizes constraints on all shifts
Assists leadership team with managing constraints and the utilization of resources and overtime
Supports transition plans and updates item planning parameters (interplants, material ownership codes, lead times, lot sizes, etc.) accordingly
Assists teams with NCRs, ATRs, and/or RW (rework) Orders
Other Essential Functions:
Participates in Daily "Gemba" with Product Line Team to track standard WIP, maintain Heijunka and Visual Management boards
Coordinates Engineering changes
Actively works with production line and external suppliers to resolve material issues (shortages, emergency customer demands, etc.)
At some locations may perform material planning and buying functions
At some locations, may also require compliance to government contracting
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Ability to create a master production schedule and the ability to use and revise that schedule to achieve production objectives
Demonstrated knowledge of WISE/Cincom/SAP or other ERP systems
Demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)
Demonstrated knowledge of Planning functions/roles
Basic communication skills, both verbal and written
Solid detail orientation and organizational skills
Basic process and product knowledge
Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
Basic knowledge of replenishment programs
Ability to contribute to Continuous Improvement projects and problem solving
Education:
UNITED STATES\US – Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
Experience:
Previous material planning or buying experience
Manufacturing processes knowledge
