What you’ll do

We at Trading 212 take pride in being a data-driven company. You will be joining the Business Intelligence team, which is at the heart of anything and everything data-related. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining solutions to ensure that the data accessibility and quality standards are upheld throughout the company. As part of your responsibilities, you will:

• Design and implement robust data integration solutions using optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques

• Architect new frameworks to support and enhance data workflows in line with the current and future business necessities

• Take ownership of the Data Warehouse platform, actively building, maintaining, and optimizing processes, services, and structures throughout the complete data lifecycle

• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to design and support the next generation of analytics and reporting systems

• Promote best practices and provide guidance to internal partners on the effective use and development of our Data Warehouse platform

What you need to have

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role, with hands-on work across the complete data lifecycle—from ingestion and transformation, to modelling and delivery

• Demonstrated ability in advanced SQL, including experience with performance tuning and complex query construction

• Strong knowledge in Python for data manipulation (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, …)

• Solid understanding of data design concepts, including dimensional modeling and data governance principles

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose data-related issues and design robust, scalable solutions

• A proactive mindset, with an emphasis on taking ownership of tasks, a willingness to take responsibility for decisions, and a focus on long-term impact

• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, and collaborative environment

Nice to have

• Architectural understanding and hands-on experience optimizing and maintaining robust big-data infrastructures

• Familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC) approaches and technologies for real-time data replication (e.g., Binary Logs, Debezium, Kafka)

• Practical experience applying statistical methods and machine learning techniques to extract insights and build predictive models

• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Redash), with the ability to extract actionable insights from data

• Passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, and a strong advocate for open-source projects
