Location: Coatbridge, Glasgow
Shift:
Early - Mon-Thu 6-2 and Friday 6-4pm
Late - Mon-Thu 2-10pm and Friday off
Salary: £45,000 + 20% shift allowance

Our client, a leading manufacturer operating within an Explosive Licensed Factory, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside electrical maintenance technicians and contribute to the smooth operation of critical mechanical systems across the site.

The Ideal Candidate:t

Experience:

• Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing setting
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems

Skills:

• Ability to work under pressure and maintain excellent organisational standards
• Competent in problem solving and hands-on maintenance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Safety-first mindset with a proactive approach

Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment including presses, valves, pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, motors, gearboxes, and pipework
• Support regulatory compliance checks and statutory inspections
• Diagnose faults and minimise operational downtime
• Assist in continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrade projects
• Maintain robust records using Safe Systems of Work including Permit to Work and Hot Works procedures
• Support auditing of mechanical maintenance activities to ensure statutory compliance
• Collaborate with process engineering and production teams on new equipment introduction
• Provide mechanical trade expertise across factory and site infrastructure
