POSITION OVERVIEW
We believe that a strong engagement strategy is the key to delivering Famously Effective work for our clients. A strong, unique customer experience for us is the catalyst that will ignite a brand’s trajectory. This is based on the relentless quest to understand what matters in people’s lives as well as an unwavering passion to identify action from deep insights within the business/brand that can increase relevancy and drive engagement. The Associate Director of Strategy, Engagement is the dedicated strategic lead who determines how creative advertising reaches people in the right channels, moments and messages. You’re an expert on how modern brands are built across social and digital, but also have unique perspective on how all pieces of brand ecosystems (offline, traditional, etc.) can drive distinctive fame-building results that translate into cultural conversation and consumer action.
You will be responsible for serving as strategic lead on one or two small accounts and support on larger, integrated accounts, as well as potential new business opportunities with autonomy. Additionally, you are responsible for understanding our clients’ specific markets, competition, and target audience opportunities, translating those insights, behaviors and needs into an actionable engagement strategy. You will be responsible for managing Engagement Strategist(s). You will also ensure the Engagement team works continuously to develop strategic skills that identify and deliver the most compelling communications plans and creative activations to differentiate our brands, constantly pushing to make Famously Effective work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Become expert in the consumer experience, across channels and offline, for relevant categories, including the consumer journey, competitive campaigns and the entirety of consumers’ online experience, staying up to date on relevant trends, platform updates and cultural conversations that make or break the advertising we launch every day.
- Lead multiple client relationships and work as an active support to clients, providing them with clear, strategic advice and actionable engagement direction
- Lead engagement strategy development including comms plans, roll outs, playbooks and engagement-focused creative briefs that will inspire great creative
- Develop and lead the implementation of customer experience strategies that align with client objectives, brand values, and audience insights
- Partner with other agency departments leads to ensure strategic thinking is incorporated in all aspects of the agency’s work
- Lead the strategic engagement component of new business pitches
- Work closely with clients to understand their customer experience goals, challenges, and business objectives and ensure the engagement strategy supports the overall business and marketing goals.
- Collaborate with creative teams, technology teams, and other departments to integrate engagement strategy into advertising campaigns and digital experiences that leverages channels with best-case-scenario executions, not just best practices.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of user personas to deepen the understanding of target audiences, and use personas to inform and personalize the customer experience strategy and contribute to the design of omni-channel customer experiences that seamlessly integrate online and offline touchpoints.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all channels, while never sacrificing the story or the consumer experience.
- Work with data partners to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of engagement strategies. Analyze results and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Craft well written strategy presentations for new and existing business with an ability to analyze, reflect, distill and story-tell
- Manage and mentor the team to foster engagement through learning and development, leading to career growth at all levels, particularly to engage around social media and broader cultural influences that shape our work.
- Contribute to the overall agency culture through exemplary modeling of our core values
- Work cross-functionally within the agency to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies
- Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert within the agency, with clients, and within the industry at large
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Effective leadership and collaboration skills to guide and work with cross-functional teams
- Strong client-facing skills to build and maintain relationships, understand client needs, and present engagement strategies
- Skilled in storytelling and public speaking and proven in leading presentations and facilitating workshops
- A sharp perspective on and ability to adapt to changing customer expectations, market dynamics, and industry trends.
- 7+ years of experience in advertising or related industry

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $150,000 to $165,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
