Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Indirect Taxes Manager to lead the group’s global indirect tax compliance and advisory activities. This role will support Zayo’s continued growth by ensuring compliance with VAT/GST/sales tax and other indirect tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will work closely with internal finance, commercial, legal, and IT teams, as well as external advisors, to manage risk, identify efficiencies, and support strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end indirect tax compliance processes across EMEA, North America, and APAC jurisdictions, including return preparation, review, filing, and payment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all indirect tax matters, internally and externally.
Maintain indirect tax registrations and ensure accuracy and completeness of transaction tax data.
Oversee the configuration and maintenance of tax engine systems (e.g., Vertex), ensuring correct tax determination.
Monitor legislative changes and assess business impact, advising stakeholders accordingly.
Lead and support indirect tax audits and enquiries, working closely with advisors and tax authorities.
Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve indirect tax reporting and data quality through automation and system enhancements.
Support indirect tax aspects of commercial contracts and new product/service offerings.
Provide training and guidance to finance and business teams on indirect tax requirements and best practices.
Key Requirements
Professional tax, accounting, or legal qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant indirect tax experience, ideally gained in a multinational environment or Big 4 firm.
Strong understanding of VAT/GST/sales tax rules and principles across multiple jurisdictions.
Experience with tax engine systems (Vertex, Avalara, etc.) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
Desirable Attributes
An additional European language such as French or German would be advantageous.
Experience in telecommunications or technology sectors.
Track record of successful process improvements and system implementations.
Ability to work independently while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration.
